Iasi is the capital-city of Iasi County, situated in the north-east of Romania.
The city is one of the most populous cities in Romania, with more than 300,000 inhabitants and the metropolitan area, set up in 2004 between Iasi and another 13 neighbouring communes with about 430,000 inhabitants, is one of the most important in the country.
When it comes to Iasi, one can not forget the fact that it is the most important economic, political and cultural centre of North-east region and one of the oldest cities in Romania.
Iasi was the capital of Moldova from the 16th century until 1861 and of Romania between 1916–1918.
The large number of students in Iasi shows a great potential for high qualified workers that can be used locally. Moreover, the Metropolitan area itself can become a huge source for specialized employees because many people who live in this area are commuters who contribute to the commercial aspect of the area.
